To commemorate the 8th Anniversary of YouTube this week, we are publishing A Brief History of Your Tube from Zero to Four Billion+ Video Views a Day. By analyzing this infographic, a little bit, we can understand why this year is being considered the Year of the Video.
The company was founded on Valentine’s Day by three former employees of PayPal, and is based in San Bruno, California. YouTube is a video-sharing website that uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML 5 technology, and even though most of the content has been uploaded by individuals, some corporations as CBS, BBC, VEVO and Hulu, among others, offer material via YouTube as part of a partnership program.
There are interesting facts here: the first video was uploaded on April of 2005, it’s called “Me at the Zoo” and it is still available on the site. Before reaching it’s two year anniversary the company was bought by Google for $ 1.65 billion. Less than five years later the site had one billion daily video views. Now YouTube has more than 800 million monthly unique visitors – that’s more than the entire population of Europe. It is the number 2 search engine and has four billion hours of video viewed each month – that’s over 450,000 years of video viewed each month!
Will you consider video marketing to grow your business this year?
